Doar's Backpack & Map... Vamanos (Let's Go!)

I made this Backpack & Map from Dora the Explorer for a little girl's birthday party on January 27th. She loves Dora the explorer & is obsessed with the Backpack. I decided to make a Backpack standing up so that is looked more realistic... which made it a lot harder due to the bags shape. (angled to tip back) All in all this was a really fun cake to make & my three girls were right there with me. They helped by looking at the photos with me & telling me what colors I needed to put for the eyebrows or if I had to make the map a little bit more tan than white. I love it when my girls get into helping. Actually... while decorating this cake, Melody, my 6 year old came up to me & said that when she grew up she wanted to make cakes just like me because I made the cakes look real! That's when you know your children are watching what you are doing & seeing that what you are doing is making a difference! I know that my cakes are making people happy & that my children are proud of me. Boy, I sure am glad I took that leap & started making cakes last year! Thank you, Jesus for giving me the talent & the courage to do something that I love!
I made a little Map to go along with the Backpack. He is kind of a staple & the Backpack always needs him so he had to come along.
The Backpack always has to look for stars so I made some yellow sparkling stars.
The straps are my favorite thing about the cake!  It was the finishing touch to making it look like a backpack!

Gold & Glittery Stiletto

This Golden Glitter cake was made for a golden birthday on January 27th. The gal loves stiletto shoes so her friend that ordered the cake wanted to make it special & I told her I could make an accent shoe for the topper.
The stiletto I made for the top is the first heeled shoe I've ever made, so getting it high enough was a new experience. I think it could have even been a little bit higher tho! The stiletto is made out of gum paste.

The top, back view of the golden glittery stiletto. As you can tell from the top two photos, I added a Glitter spray over the shoe. These photos are the photos before glitter.
Heel of my little stiletto!

This cake is a 8 inch 2 layer square & a 6 inch 2 layer square. It is a peanut butter cake with a peanut butter filling. I covered the cake with home made marshmallow fondant & decorated it with gold & glitter & edible pearls.

We Love our Paras!

Lincoln Elementary, where two of my girls attend asked me to make a cake for National Paraprofessional Day on January 19th.
I made a sheet cake and covered it in whipped frosting. My girls helped me make some of the art work for the cake so that it truly was an "Original Masterpiece!" I also found some art work that Melody made for me and I copied what she had drawn.
From top left... a spider on a web, Things we likes at school, math, melody's swings, & a smiling sun.
From bottom left... a smiling sun, Melody jumping off a diving board, planets & stars, a rainbow, & music.
From the top left... Penny diving, a monster, a love heart, a corn field, & twirly playground fun.
From bottom left... a girl teacher, a flower, fishing, a boy teacher, & a monster.
I also made a ruler to go along the bottom border of the cake.
The chalkboard that I made along with 2 little chalks & an apple for the teacher.
My little yummy apple!

Basketball Star Paige

I made this basketball cake in October for a girl who goes to our church. This is Paige. She LOVES basketball & let her mom know that she wanted a themed party this year that wasn't girly.
This cake was an almond cake with raspberry filling and is made out of home made marshmallow fondant.
